7x sector renews campaign against plastic use

Noida: A group of residents from Noida's 7x societies came together to raise awareness regarding the persistent use of plastic in markets on Sunday in spite of several efforts from the Noida Authority against it.

Members of 7X welfare team distributed cloth bags and tried to convince vendors and customers of sabzi mandi (vegetable market) near Supertech North eye in Sector 74 to avoid using plastic bags and switch to free cloth bags which have been made available by the authority free of cost.

Brajesh Sharma, member of 7X welfare team, said "CEO Noida Authority has taken several initiatives, let's make our Noida plastic-free, let's contribute individually, collectively and in every possible manner.”

The bags distributed by the team were arranged by Noida Authority Senior Manager Salil Yadav after the request for the same was made by the residents.

Residents of Golf View 2, Assotech Windsor, Silicon City Society, and others also took a pledge to cooperate with the authority in every possible manner in making Noida a smart city in real sense and a worthy place to live in.

Notably, the sabzi mandi where the drive took off was stocked with single-use plastic and while awareness is reaching the masses, the implementation on ground displays a different image.
