Police commissioner's visit reassures Dwarka security

Commissioner of the Delhi Police Amulya Patnaik's visit on Sunday brought cheers to the residents of Dwarka. He inaugurated a public facilitation kiosk, a community policing vehicle and a digital verification application “PARAKH” along with the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in four societies.
What's more, he conferred the “Best Secured Society” award on the Sub-City.

The police commissioner along with S Nithianandam, special Commissioner or police/P&L, RS Krishnia, special commissioner of police/L&O (South), Satish Golchha, special commissioner of police/L&O (North) and Shalini Singh, joint commissioner of police/Western Range visited the National Law University, Dwarka.

The dignitaries interacted with the residents on the security issues and honoured the district with the Best Secured Society award. They also visited the National Law University at DDA Pocket in Sector-14.

Prior to the event at the university, the police commissioner inaugurated the public facilitation kiosk at Sector-10 Market. The purpose of the kiosk is to provide round-the-clock access to online services to the residents of Dwarka like lodging of complaints, filing of e-FIR, submission of tenant verification forms etc. The kiosk is connected to the main server of the Delhi Police and will be manned by technical staff all the time.

A multi-utility communication vehicle for community policing was flagged off by the CP. The vehicle is fitted with CCTV/IP cameras in front and back, digital display of different initiatives launched by Delhi Police like Himmat Plus, Shashakti, Nukkar Natak etc. The vehicle has a public address (PA) system, a foldable stage that can be used to monitor and control crowd, while the IP cameras installed will telecast/record the live happening/incidents.

Thereafter, he visited the National Law University where interaction on “Safety and Security of Women in Dwarka” took place between panellists drawn from various segments of the society, public from Dwarka and senior dignitaries of the Delhi Police. The main theme of the interaction was to strengthen the safety and security of women.

In order to strengthen the security system in Dwarka District, a security audit of all the societies and DDA pockets were extensively carried out by the screening committee constituting media, NGOs and intellectuals residing in Dwarka under the chairmanship of PK Bhardwaj, (Retired IPS).

Dwarka comprises 402 societies and 52 DDA pockets. Of these, a total of 271 societies/DDA pockets participated in this endeavour. The screening committee shortlisted and visited all the societies/DDA pockets and after evaluating the requisite parameters, successfully identified the Best Secured Society/DDA pocket and the same was felicitated by the CP.

The Ispatika Apartments, Sector-4 secured the award of the Best Secured Society, Beverly Park Apartments, Sector-22 was the first runner-up while Mansarovar Apartments, Sector-5 secured the award of second runner-up. Among the DDA Pockets, Gangotri Apartments, Sector-12 secured the award of Best Secured DDA Pocket while Sanskriti Apartment remained the first runner-up.

Also, societies with specific features or innovative experiment in security system were also felicitated by the Commissioner of Delhi Police. Media Society Sector 7 was felicitated as a society with best verification system, Lords Apartments Sector 19B for the best management of vehicles, Sukh Sagar Apartments Sector 9 for best-secured periphery and Anusandhan Apartments Sector 6 as best interactive society.

The initiatives have been taken to strengthen the safety of residents of Dwarka and to further expand the relationship between the police and the public.

The Dwarka District is determined to take numerous steps for the safety of public and in this endeavour; a Neighborhood Watch Scheme has been promulgated in four societies of the sub-city, which have been officially inaugurated by the CP.

The district has also made door-to-door verification/navigated layout of the buildings and the residents living thereof. The verification has been carried out in 74 out of the 104 beats in 09 Police Stations of Dwarka District and the data has been digitally procured. A digital verification of the app, “PARAKH”, has been developed for effective and smooth verification which has the following features:

The initiatives taken by the Dwarka District Police were appreciated not only by the residents but also earned laurels from the police commissioner. During an enriching interaction with the CP, the panellists drawn from different segments of the society took an active part in the discussion about the problems faced by the residents and the solutions thereof.

The safety and security of the residents were thoroughly discussed. Appreciating the efforts of the RWAs of gated societies/DDA Pockets in this direction Amulya Patnaik went to the extent of calling them an example for others to follow.

The commissioner assured the residents that their security would continue to be the first and foremost duty of the police. He lauded the security measures in Dwarka to be in close proximity to the globally recognised levels.
