New Delhi: Often there have been talks that winters are no more the same in national capital as compared to what it was earlier. The winter chill of Delhi was very famous. But, in last few years, the famous chill of national capital had somehow vanished.

Now, the nature, which is very unpredictable as they say, has taken a quantum shift. The analysis of daily maximum temperature revealed that the first half of this year's December has been the coldest in the period of 22 years.

On Monday, people woke up to chilly weather with minimum temperature settling at 9 degrees Celsius. There was a cool breeze in the most parts of the Delhi-NCR.

It was very unusual condition as the famous winter chill had almost gone from the national capital.

The data suggested that there has been a significant change in the weather as compared to past two decades. The mean maximum temperature so far in December has been 22.7 degrees Celsius. It is lowest since the year 1997.

So far this month, the maximum temperature on all the days have been below normal. In fact, the mean of maximum temperature has been 1.6 degrees below normal.

As per the trends and past record, this year's cold start in the month of December is akin to what it used to be 70s and 80s. The onset of winter used to be early in those years which is very much similar to this year.

The India Meteorological Department in its study had earlier concluded that the onset of winter was shifting by 15 days in last few decades. Contrary to that, this year the trend was similar to what it used to be few decades back.

It is certainly a good time for the people who love chills of winter. They can get what they have been missing for quite a long time now.
