Gurugram Mayor finds many lapses during inspection at public toilets

Gurugram: Gurugram Mayor Madhu Azad on Monday paid a surprise visit to Sadar Bazar, Agrasen Chowk among other places and inspected the public toilets and cleanliness of the city.

She made a surprise visit and reviewed cleanliness at different places. Several deficiencies were found at many public toilets during the inspection. Many toilets were found in unhygienic condition. There were also toilets where maintainance staff were absent. 

The Mayor expressed her dissatisfaction with the maintenance of toilets. Apart from this, she also took a stock of cleanliness in the city. She found various lacunae in maintaining sanitation in the area. During the inspection, heaps of garbage were spotted at various places.

She said that the government of India will conduct a cleanliness survey of the city in January and on the basis of cleanliness, Gurugram will be included in the list of clean cities. 

“It is the responsibility of the municipal corporation to provide cleanliness and better toilets in the city,” she said.

Continuing further she said that a report will be prepared and sent to the Chief Minister and Minister of Urban Local Bodies requesting them to take strict action against the officials and employees for lapses in discharging duties. 

The Mayor concluded, “It is our responsibility to make Gurugram clean, beautiful and better. Any negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If any officer or employee is negligent then action will be surely taken against them.”
