Play in Dwarka on Guru Nanak Dev in dastangoi style

Dwarka: A play, "Satnam Wahe Guru", based on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev was staged on Saturday at CCRT, Dwarka, New Delhi. The play rendered in Dastangoi style by artists of Abhinaya Rangmanch from Hisar to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of the Sikh Guru.

The melody and gripping storyline rendered in dastangoi (storytelling) style held the audience spellbound throughout the play directed by Manish Joshi, recipient of Sangeet  Natak Academy (Yuva Puruskar).

Guru Nanak Dev Ji's message of peace, love, compassion, equality, humility, charity etc. was delivered in a very interesting manner by weaving Kabir's verses, Bulleshah's kalam (poetic discourse) and Rumi's songs into the performance. It was an amalgamation of tradition and innovation.

Rishi Kumar Vashist, Director, Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT), Dwarka inaugurated the function and introduced to the audience the new initiatives of CCRT i.e. a beginning of e-portal to increase the coverage of CCRT training programmes, cultural performances by involving three generations such as recognised and established artist, scholarship holder alumni and current scholarship holder and lastly inauguration of CCRT Art Gallery.

AS Chhatwal, General Secretary of the Dwarka Forum supported the CCRT in organising the event. A large number of students from Vandana International School, Dwarka and the SGTB Khalsa School, Dev Nagar, New Delhi along with the residents of Dwarka were present in the auditorium.
