As part of a safaigiri abhiyaan (sanitation drive), Noida Industrial Development Authority, on Sunday, carried out cleanliness drive in different residential sectors in the city.
The authority also distributed cleanliness kits among residents of Sector-51 for keeping kitchen waste segregated at source. These kits contain green composting bins, compost making powder with user manual. With the help of these kits, the residents can convert their daily food waste into valuable compost manure and use it as fertiliser for their garden.
Explaining the benefits of the kits, officials of public health department of the authority said that the compost uses an effective micro-organism technology. The good microbes are similar to the ones that convert the milk into curd and flour into bread.
These microbes convert the food waste and make them nutrient-rich compost for your garden without getting any foul smell, they said.
