Gurugram: The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) assured residents of Sector 43 that they would conduct the survey of the area after they complained about the illegal jhuggies (slums) that have come up in the area.

The residents wrote a letter to the estate officer of HSVP complaining that about 30 illegal establishments have mushroomed at various locations on the HSVP land in the sector causing great inconvenience to them. They have requested the authority to take action against them and remove illegal slum from the vicinity.

The residents claimed that the plots in their area were being used as garbage dumping grounds. Sanjeev Lamba, RWA president Sector 43, said, “Government land is being illegally occupied and developed into slum which is posing serious security threat and creating an unhygienic surrounding in the area. The movement of miscreant element is also increasing which can be dangerous for the residents.”

Foul smell emanating from the heaps of garbage lying on the college site is causing a lot of trouble to the residents. The pavement of the main sector road has also been occupied by small commercial activities causing trouble to commuters. “These encroachment have also led to the congestion of the sector roads. We have demanded action and urged the authority to initiate an anti-encroachment drive in the sector,” Lamba said.
