Quite often commuters in Delhi complain of invisible or partially visible signboards on the city roads. At many an intersection, one can hardly read directions on the boards as they are covered by shrubs and tree branches.
The Federation of Housing Societies has taken up the issue with the Public Works Department (PWD) and urged it to clear the signboards of the area.
Chief of the federation Suresh Bindal said, "We received complaints signboards covered by shrubs and trees. This creates problems for the commuters. We have written to the PWD and horticulture department to clear the shrubs for clear vision of the signboards.”
The federation has also identified several dark spots in the area where road mishaps are a routine affair.
Many open areas of housing societies are converted into dumping ground. Civic authorities responsible for cleaning the area are found wanting.
The secluded spots are unafe for women. Bindal said they have notified some dark spots to the authorities where chain snatching is common. Police should increase patrolling in the area to ensure women's safety.
