In the last eight days, the schools have been ordered to remain close twice. The Uttar Pradesh Government had ordered closure of schools last week from Thursday to Saturday.

"This is being done to protect small children from the extreme weather conditions prevailing across the northern region of the country," an official said.

The administration is strict over the compliance of the orders. Last week, it had ordered registration of a FIR against 13 schools in Ghaziabad after they did not comply with the order to close the schools.
