Gurugram: Show-cause notice to Suncity residents for violating building norms

Gurugram: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has issued show-cause notices to ten houses of Suncity, an upscale colony located in Sector 54 on Golf Course Road, for conducting commercial activities in the residential area.

The residents have been directed to stop the commercial activities, failing which, there will be action against them.

The action came after the residents filed a complaint with DTCP against the violations of building plan in the vicinity. They alleged that the commercial activities were going on in some houses without any permission. It was casuing trouble to other residents in the colony.

The residents said that several house owners are engaged in commercial activities and run PG, guest house, gym, salon or other business activities which is a clear violation of the building norms.

The residents alleged that the commercial establishments were putting a lot of stress on the infrastructure of the colony especially power and water supply.

VMK Singh, former general secretary of Suncity RWA, said, “The resources are limited and due to these establishments operating in our vicinity, there is a lot of stress on internal roads, water and power supply.”

“EWS plot owners have constructed 5 to 7 storeys in the building in which PGs, guest houses among other commercial activities are running. Earlier, DTPC had issued notices to more than 25 houses in the area and their occupancy certificates were also cancelled. However, no action has been taken by the concerned department to cut water and sewer connections,” he added.
