Gurugram: Ecogreen Energy asked to improve sanitation else get blacklisted

Gurugram: Gurugram Mayor Madhu Azad on Monday came down heavily on Ecogreen Energy and gave an ultimatum to the company asking them to improve the sanitation condition across the city in one month or be ready to get blacklisted.

In the meeting with the representatives of Ecogreen at Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) office, the Mayor along with her team categorically stated that the company had made the sanitation situation worse during the last two years rather than improving.

Now the company has been given the last ultimatum to improve the door-to-door waste collection and other responsibilities by January 31. In case, there is no improvement, the action of blacklisting the company will be initiated.

“At present, the sanitation condition of the city is very bad and piles of garbage can be seen lying around across the city. Garbage collection vehicles do not pick waste consistently. And whenever they come, they do not do the job properly,” Madhu Azad said.

People have been complaining about the poor sanitation condition in the city and alleged that the Ecogreen Energy, corporation concessionaire for waste management, has failed to manage city's waste.

The representatives of the company were instructed to take the collected garbage to Bandhwadi landfill site in a covered vehicle and told that any negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The issue of arbitrary fee collection by the employees of the Ecogreen Company instead of the user charges prescribed by the government was also raised during the meeting.
