Gurugram: A 2011 batch IAS officer, Vinay Pratap Singh, took charge as the new Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Tuesday.

Prior this assignment, Singh served as the District Deputy Commissioner in Gurugram and also held the responsibility of Additional Deputy Commissioner.

As soon as he took over the charge as the municipal commissioner, he wished a prosperous New Year to the citizens and said that the MCG would be doing several good works in 2020. 

"Every possible work will be done to ensure that citizens get better basic facilities. Efforts will be made to make the city clean, beautiful and better."

The municipal commissioner also visited the MCG office located at Sector-34. On Tuesday, he met with senior officials of the corporation and sought information about the ongoing projects by the civic body.

Additional Municipal Commissioner YS Gupta briefed the incumbent about the ongoing cases in National Green Tribunal (NGT) and other courts. Along with this, he was also briefed about property tax, diagnostic lab, proposed MCG office building in Vyapar Sadan, collection of development fee in regularized colonies, banquet halls / marriage halls  and mobile towers, multilevel parking, de-centralized STP, C&D and solid waste management system, fire NOC, sanitation system, door-to-door waste collection etc.

During the meeting, the new MCG Commissioner instructed for expansion of seating area in the waiting room of the diagnostic lab being constructed in Sector-39. He also said that a special camp should held for the recovery of development fee from regularised colonies. He directed the officials to make arrangements for depositing the development fee at the property tax counters located in the tehsil offices.
