In Swachh Survey, negative marking for monkeys may get exemption

New Delhi: Monkey menace has been a headache for the authorities in Delhi. They have been finding it hard to tackle this problem. Now, as the countdown for Swachh Survey has started, different Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and market associations are trying hard to score high.

But monkey menace is something which is very difficult to address. In Swachh Survey, there is negative marking for the residential and market areas if there is presence of monkeys at the premises.

However, as per the senior officers of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), there is a possibility that negative marking for presence of monkeys may get exemption.

In an important meeting for the preparation of Swachh Survey, the RWA of Nehru Park raised this issue and requested exemption from negative marking for the presence of monkeys at the premises.

A NDMC officer, Rashmi Singh said, “We would write a letter to Ministry of Urban Development seeking relief on presence of monkeys. Earlier, dogs were exempted from the check list.” Under the Swachh Survey, an observer will see fruits and vegetable market to assure cleanliness on 38 different points.

The meeting was organisd by NDMC for cleanliness preparations. A random survey will be done from January 4-31. All zones are on high alert for Swacch Survey. NDMC was on 5th position last year.
