Lapses in organising langar land family in soup at Lajpat Nagar

New Delhi: After a family of South Delhi's posh Lajpat Nagar area organised a langar for over 200 underprivileged people on the occasion of Guru Nanak Janyanti on Wednesday, other residents of the area alleged that the family did not dispose of the waste which was seen lying on the entry gate of the colony.

Sunita (name changed), the family's neighbour, spoke to CitySpidey and questioned as to why did the family put all their garbage in front the area's entry gate and not in front of their gate.

“In the morning, the waste was scattered in the entire lane which the animals must have done,” she said.

Sunita's husband added,  "What good were these people trying to do if they can't even help in keeping their surroundings clean. They organised a langar for lunch and did not dispose of the waste. The garbage pickup van will only come next day hence the waste will lie in the main lane of the colony for more than 18 hours.”

He further said that leaving the garbage on the road does not solve anything. If one wants to organise something, he/she should do post-event planning too.

The family provided carton boxes for the waste during the langar but did not send it away to the garbage house which is not even 50 meters away from the venue in Block I of Lajpat Nagar 2. They rather decided to put it on the main gate of the colony which created a lot of mess.
