Resident's efforts pay off, reflectors installed on accident-prone trees

Noida: The Noida Authority has installed reflectors and made chevron marking near aged trees opposite sector 137 metro station. The move came following constant lobbying by an active resident of the city.

Vishnu Saini of Ecociti in sector 137 has frequently approached the authority over the development work in the area for the past several months through twitter, personal visits and written complaints. Acting on one of his complaints, the authority on Thursday installed reflectors on the trees that became a cause of several accidents in the past as they stand tall in the middle of the road.

The reflectors and markings will help reduce accidents as they improve visibility for the drivers, especially in winters.

Vishnu met junior engineer (JE) work circle-8 and PE on Thursday and discussed various other impediments on the road removal of which are vital for risk-free travel.

Talking to CitySpidey, he said action will be taken to improve junction visibility near the metro station by lowering the median crash barrier as a temporary measure until something permanent doesn’t come up.

In the meeting, it was also decided that precast kerb will be installed around the trees opposite the metro station and redesigning of the junction will be done by realigning the road, kerbs/islands.

Development of more green areas around the metro station on the road is also in the offing.
