New Delhi: The Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi government on Friday encouraged the students of higher classes under its schools by giving computer tablets for achievements in the academic year.

Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia, while awarding the students for their achievements said it will be rolled out to all the students of Delhi government schools.

Addressing the gathering of students on the occasion, the Education Minister said, “This is in your hands, how you would like to use this tablet. It is upto you how you use it. I should not get complains that the children have become addicted to the tablets. Instead, I should get positive response from the parents praising the government for facilitating learning of the wards. I hope you will prove me right.”

He added, “Today we are giving these tablets to every students who have shown glimpses of excellence. The tablet is like a portable library that will be connecting the students with their teachers and peers. We are open to ideas from students as how to use this tablet, how to utilise it for better learning and even better performance.”

The DoE, under its scheme – Rajkiya Pratibha Vikas Vidyalaya had earlier announced to provide computer tablets to those students of Class 11th and 12th who secured 80 per cent or more marks in CBSE Board Examination of 2019.

Beginning with distribution of computer tablets, Education Minister in a programme on Friday handed over the tablets to 15,000 eligible students.

“Technology is a tool. Take an example of ladder. You can either climb up the ladder or come down using it. Similarly, you can achieve excellence, by using technology through this tablet or completely waste your time. Since this experiment starts with you, the responsibility lies with you to make this a success so that we extend it for all student of Delhi Government schools ,” Sisodia concluded.
