Gurugram: To celebrate the launch of Swachh Survekshan 2020, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) organised awareness drives on Saturday.

On the occasion, programmes including 'Musical Flash Mobs' and 'Clothing and E-Waste collection drives' were held in market areas and residential colonies of the city.

The cleanliness drive marked its launch yesterday at Ambience Mall and Cyber Hub, Gurugram. Citizens actively participated in the event in large numbers. On the occasion, eco-friendly toothbrushes were given away as a souvenir to proliferate a sustainable lifestyle.

MCG officials, including Joint Commissioner Inderjit Kularia, also marked their presence at the event.

The civic body is planning to host series of musical flash mob in the coming weeks at different places including Subhash Cowk, Rajiv Chowk, Vyapar Kendra, HUDA City Center metro station, Galleria Market, malls among other places to instill a sense of responsibility among the people to keep the city clean.

Similarly, a special signature campaign was also launched under the Swachh Survekshan -2020 at Gurgaon Dreams Mall in Sector-4/7 in association with Buland Awas Welfare Society and Center for Sight.

Gurugram Deputy Mayor Sunita Yadav was chief guest at the event. She was joined by Joint Commissioner Gaurav Antil and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brahmadeep Sandhu. 

Addressing the gathering, Yadav said, "If everyone segregates the waste and make compost from the wet waste, the problem in managing waste can be solved easily. Everyone should work together to get better ranking in the cleanliness survey."
