CM Kejriwal inaugurates 152 mohalla clinics in Delhi

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi Government launched 152 mohalla clinics in the National Capital taking the total number of such clinics to 450. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated all the 150 clinics on Sunday

The party claimed that it has set a 'world record' by starting this many health facilities in a single day.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister recalled that his government initially had constructed around 150 clinics.

He recounted how they faced many roadblocks in the expansion of the project, many files were pending for one-two years. And how the Supreme Court judgment eased the process of opening new mohalla clinics.

“Now,” Kejriwal said, “we have made 450 mohalla clinics functional. In the coming three-four months, more clinics will be opened and I hope the target of 1,000 mohalla clinics will be achieved in Delhi.”

The CM said that though Delhi has several big hospitals, common people find it difficult to go to the hospitals for treatment of small illness like fever, cold, cough etc. “So, we realised that if we start smaller clinics in nearby locations, people can access treatment and medicine without traveling a lot. Also, it will reduce the rush in the bigger hospitals,” he said.

He also said that in the last five years, 15,000 beds were added to government hospitals.
