Noida: A procession (Nagar Kirtan) was taken out on the occasion of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti at Sector 137 here on Sunday

Nagar Kirtan is a processional singing of holy hymns by a community. The procession is led by saffron-robed Panj Piare (the five beloved of the Guru), who follow Guru Granth Sahib, the holy Sikh scripture.

The procession was organised by the residents in collaboration with Gurudwara located at Sector 137. Hundreds of people were seen taking part in it.

This was the first time that the Sikh community of Sector 137 carried out the celebration and every member was given a role to take care of. The residents also conducted a cleaning drive, where both old and young were seen sweeping the roads.

The cleaniness drive was intiated by Dr Jasbir Kaur and Dr Amit Kaur Puri, residents of Supertech Ecociti in sector 137.

Talking to CitySpidey, Jasbir said that during the Nagar Kirtan a team of volunteers were responsible to see that no waste was littered on the roads, as tea and coffee was being served to the large gathering during the procession.
