Noida: On Monday evening, a hatchback car hitting a plastic divider climbed the U-turn boundary at Hanuman Murti marg. Reason: the driver could not notice the divider in the absence of reflectors.
Though many escape unhurt in such minor mishaps, wrongly shaped U-turns have become a nuisance for traffic. Accidents due to such U-turns have drastically increased in the district in the recent past.

The issue of U-turns and unorganised diversions has been in debate for long. The U-turns which are meant to decongest the city roads, have rather add to the congestion, caused many a accident and affected smooth traffic flow.
The wrongly positioned U-turn force commuters to take a wrong lane risking accident.
Last month, a speeding car rammed into the wall of a U-turn on the main road near Kesar Garden, a high rise in Sector 48, due to dense fog and absence of reflector.
Residents of city have demanded the Noida Authority to take necessary steps so that no such incident recur in future. They have complained that there were several U-turns in the city where reflectors need to be put up for safety of the commuters.
