Gaur Sports Wood's first free medical camp of the year

Noida: A free medical camp was held at the clubhouse of Gaur sports wood, a high rise in Sector 79, for the residents recently. Organised by the Community service team of the society, the first medical camp of the year benefited many.

It was the third medical camp organised by a group of residents that saw the participation of over 150 residents, mostly children and senior citizens. They are those who generally feel that their medical needs should be neglected.

The organisers called it their method of 'giving back to the community' by creating awareness about the health and benefits of early diagnosis.

According to Dr Anjana Puri, many don't visit a doctor thinking either there is nothing wrong with them or the consultation fee is very high or their negligent attitude towards health.

Sanwarjeet Singh, a resident of GSW and member of Noida Progressive Community Foundation, said "In July last, we had organised a camp for the underprivileged who worked in houses in our society. The second camp was set up in August".

“The response from residents, this time around, was overwhelming. While many were happy to see normal test results and announced with a grin 'hum theek hai' (We're fine), others who had no clue about their health were content with the consultation.

As per the organisers, some 380 plus consultations were done, including 28 for skin hair, 107 for eye, 102 for BP and glucose level test and 50 ECG. While children were mostly going for eye and dental check-up, senior citizens went with tests and general consultation.

Talking about the arrangement, Sanwarjeet said that he along with other residents approached Dr Faizal, a general physician in  Rajneesh Metro Hospital,  Manoj (senior optometrist, eye specialists, Pushpender Pandey and Rinku Pathak from Eye Health Clinic, Dr Preeti and Arun Pandey from Clove Dental, Dr Lokesh (skin specialist) and Dr Pankaj Kumar, orthopaedic specialist from Jaypee Hospital. They all readily agreed to conduct check-ups free of cost.

Giving credit to the pro-active attitude of residents, Singh said that Gaur management and maintenance team also contributed to making the camp a success and helping many residents with their diagnosis,

Other volunteers who helped in smooth carrying out of the camp were Sharad Singh, Manoj Tyagi, Kamal Gupta, Mahendra Singh, Awadhesh Chaudhary, Tanuj Garg, Parag  Garg, Prabhat Mittal and Pawan Verma.
