Noida Authority disconnects water supply of 18 defaulters

Noida: Noida Authority on Tuesday temporarily disconnected water supply of 18 defaulters for recovery of dues raised against availing services. 

According to officials, the authority was continuing with a drive for recovery of dues from all those, who had not paid the service charges in the past. It temporarily disconnected connections of 18 consumers, which includes private developers and owners of different institutions and commercial outlets in the city. 

They were given notices and issued recovery certificate as well for clearances of dues raised against availing services of water supply and flooding out sewerage. But they had not paid it till date, following which, the authority initiated strict action.

Officials said that water supply connection of 18 different outlets was disconnected as they had not paid dues. Some of them came forward to deposit the dues partly to avoid the disruption of services. 

They said that there were few, who deposited sum total of Rs 18 lakh. They told that there are a total of 53 group housing projects from where the authority has not received payment. All of them owe Rs 56 crore to the authority. 

The officials said that the authority has also initiated steps to issue recovery certificate, which would later be followed by disconnection of their services. As many as 152, out of 316 defaulters, would have to pay for restarting of services as their supply connections were disconnected.
