Gurugram: A group of residents along with RWA members of Sector 23A recently held a meeting with the newly appointed Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh demanding the execution of development works in the sector.

In the meeting, the RWA members handed over a memorandum of demands and sought his intervention on several developmental issues.

The issues they took up during the meeting include removal of garbage and C&D waste from 6.5 acres of vacant land, construction of additional water booster tank, development of pavement, repairing and desilting of storm water drains, development of sector's entrance, renovation of green belt among the others.

Malkhan Singh, RWA president Sector 23A, said, "Several development work has been pending in our sector for more than 2-3 years and despite our repeated request nothing has been done. We have requested the MCG Commissioner to intervene on the mater and expedite the development work in the sector to provide relief to hundreds of families living in the sector."

The resident alleged that a 6.5 acres of vacant plot is being used as the dumping yard and tonnes of solid waste and C&D waste has accumulated creating problem for the residents living in the sectors. They said that the site has become a perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes, foul smell emanate from dead animals making it difficult for passersby. While several complaints were made in this regard to MCG and Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) officials, the problem still persists.

In 2012, the then Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, announced the construction of Gymkhana Club on the plot on demand of the residents from four HSVP sectors, 23A, 23, 22 and 21. However, it is yet to come up.

They have also demanded the additional water booster tank for the sector as the existing one is not sufficient to meet the demand of supplied water. "Many areas of our sector are not getting adequate water supply. MCG has already approved the booster earlier but it is still need to be executed on ground," Yadav said.
