Mayur Vihar Phase III: Forums call for election boycott over pending demands

New Delhi: Various social organisations have been demanding for metro connectivity at Mayur Vihar Phase III since long. They had approached the elected representatives over the demand but nothing has been done in this regard so far.

They complained that the despite hearing to the grievances, the elected representatives have not done anything.

This time, the voters are rigid on their demands and said that they will boycott the upcoming election if their demands are not met.

Vinod Kumar Nair, Convener and Chief coordinator of United Forum of Residents from Mayur Vihar Phase III area said, “In recent years, the map of metro changed a lot around the Phase III area. Now, it is a challenge to get connectivity in our area as well. More than ten stations are already there in the radius of 6 km. The lines can be easily extended to Mayur Vihar Phase III.”

“Apart from the metro connectivity, we are also deprived of basic facilities like proper water supply, good government hospital, streetlights and well built roads. Pollution is another aspect which is affecting people in the area,” he said.

The forum also got support from Khoda association as well. On Wednesday, the forum also sent a letter to cabinet minister Mahesh Sharma as well.

He further added, “We are deprived of basic facilities because the area's elected representatives are not doing their duties properly as it is being done in other areas. We don't want get fooled again. This time, we have a clear vision and calculated home work for claiming our rights.”
