Mahagun Moderne: Aditya Wardhan loses his battle with life

It was a sombre day at Mahagun Moderne, in Sector 78, Noida, as residents bid a tearful farewell to 9-year-old Aditya Wardhan, who lost his battle with life at Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Friday. He was on ventilation in the ICU for the past week after he fell into the society’s swimming pool on June 29. His hand got stuck in the open suction hole of the swimming pool, making it impossible for him to raise his head or his hand over water to call for help.

Aditya's body reached Mahagun Moderne around 3 pm on Friday. The last rites took place at the Sector 94 crematorium after a couple of hours.

The residents have demanded tough action against all those responsible for Aditya’s death. Vikas Singh, a resident, said, "Action should be taken against the builder for keeping the hole of the suction pipe open. It should have been covered with a steel mesh."

Another resident, Ashish Mahajan, said, "Why was no life guard on duty near the pool when the boy fell in? This is reason enough to take action against the maintenence staff of the society.” He raised questions on how Noida Authority could have issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) if the pool was not safe for residents, especially children.

There was no reply from the builder, despite repeated attempts.
