Greater Noida: The cops of Beta-2 police station on Tuesday arrested five mobile snatchers and seized 39 mobile phones along with a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw. 

During a police action at Jagat Farm area, five accused - Monu, a native of Meerut, Vishal and Sunil, native of Jharkhand and present residents of Bisrakh, Mohd Suman Sheikh (Bengal) and Pappu (Bihar), present residents of Ghaziabad - were arrested over suspicion and mobiles phones were recovered.

The accused were then taken for interrogation where they confessed that they used to operate like a gang and targeted crowded areas like markets where they snatched mobiles and purses of women. They said that after stealing it, they used to pass it to their partners to make themselves safe. 

The group also revealed that they used seized motorcycle for snatching purposes. It was also brought to knowledge that the gang was operative in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad areas of NCR. 

A case has been registered under section 414 (assisting in concealment of stolen property) 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property), 392 (punishment for robbery), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 379 ( punishment for theft) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the five accused.
