Back-to-back chain snatching incidents in Vasundhara Enclave have raised grave concerns about the state of security, especially of women, in the area.

Keeping that in mind, Vasundhara Enclave Residents Welfare Association recently held a meeting with Rishi Pal, the deputy commissioner of police (East Delhi). A delegation from the RWA comprising of 40 residents, including RWA office bearers, led by president Anil Kumar Pandey met the police official.

During the meeting, residents expressed their concerns regarding the security in the area. Pandey told City Spidey that chain snatching was the main issue taken up at the meeting. “DCP Rishi Pal assured us of regular patrolling and tight vigil in the area,” added Pandey.

According to residents, incidents of chain snatching have become very common. JP Sharma, a resident of Overseas Apartments, said, “Every week one or two incidents are reported from the area.”

RWA representatives told City Spidey that in 2015, SHO SN Pandey had done a commendable job against chain snatchers. Sharma said, “The SHO had launched a drive against chain snatchers and anti-social aliments. He created fear amongst chain snatchers and that brought relief to women residing in the area.” Residents want more of such drives against anti-social elements.
