Gurugram: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved several proposals related to the city's development at the fifth meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA).

During the meeting, which was chaired by the chief minister, the issue of air pollution in the city came up for discussion. Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri briefed Khattar about several initiatives taken to reduce pollution levels in consultation with all stakeholders.

He said, “An action plan will be prepared in collaboration with the GMDA and other concerned agencies. We have invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from corporate under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme to establish low-cost monitors to check pollution. Five companies have shown interest in this regard.” 

Around 140 locations have been earmarked across the city to set up air quality monitors connected to the command
and control centre of the GMDA.

While discussing the extension of the city bus service to Delhi and Faridabad, the chief minister directed officials to apply for a temporary permit for the operation of the bus service on these routes. He also instructed the officials to take suggestions from RWAs and other organisations while deciding the route for the city bus service running in Gurugram.

At present, 125 buses of Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBl) are operational on 14 routes. Soon, 25 new buses will be added to the fleet.

Expansion of Metro was extensively discussed during the meeting. The CM approved a proposal to set up Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College in Gurugram. Construction of a sports complex at Sector-9 was also discussed.

In the meeting, GMDA CEO VS Kundu tabled the balancesheet for the financial year 2017-18 and 2018-19.

Infrastructure development, other projects related to sewerage, drinking water, roads etc. were also discussed in the meeting.
