Greater Noida: A 43-year-old man committed suicide in Ecovillage I, a highrise in Greater Noida West on Wednesday night. The incident came into light on Thursday morning after a couple of neighbours saw him hanging on water-sprinkler pipe in his flat and they immediately informed Bisrakh police station.

The deceased was identified as Surendra Ghanasani, who was living in his 1BHK flat in A2 tower. Residents in the society told City Spidey that Ghanasani was living alone in his flat for last couple of years.

Deceased's brother Rajendra Ghanasani, who lives in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad told CitySpidey that he had no job since July 2018. “He was unmarried and was working with a private firm in Noida, but he was jobless since July 15. I used to visit him frequently. Whenever I was not able to visit him, I used to talk to him over phone. His phone was out of reach since 11 am on Wednesday and I came to know about the incident on next morning,” Rajendra said.

After getting information, police reached the spot. The body was rescued and sent for post mortem. “Further investigation is underway,” said an official from Bishrakh police station.

Sumit Saxena, a resident of Ecovillage I said that earlier his mother had visited to him but at present he was living alone in his flat.

“He was constantly in search of job. He used to frequently request residents, who were familiar with him, to help him in getting job for livelihood. From last few months, he was giving tuition to the children of people living in the same society. On Tuesday, he did not arrive to teach children. This morning, when one of the residents, whose child was taking classes, peeped inside the flat, he came to know about the incident. He then informed other residents,” said Sumit Saxena.

Rajendra Ghanasani’s family belongs to Krishna Nagar colony in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
