New Delhi: The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) has decided to install 40 new mobile towers on private buildings to increase revenue.
Though the EDMC schools and hospital are not included in the scheme, it is estimated to earn around Rs 4 crore through this project.
Sanjay Kapoor, a member of the standing committee of the corporation, said, “Some private companies are in touch with us over the proposal. Since the towers happen to be of the low radiation beam, they won't harm individuals.”
He said the target area of the towers will be corporate houses. Hence, they are not going to install them in densely populated localities.
With the money earned through the scheme, the EDMC will be in a better position to invest in other useful civic facilities.
