Tree felled by truckers, resident raises security issue

New Delhi: A resident lodged a complaint with the management of Dhruva Apartment, IP Extension against some people for allegedly cutting a tree near the society. He claimed to have seen them indulging in the act in violation of the environmental laws.

Ravi Sharma, the eyewitness in the case, says the accused had chopped the tree to make space to park their truck. He said he even shouted at them, but it was too late. By then, they were already done with it.

Through his complaint, apart from tree felling, he raised the issue of security in the society. Now that the tree adjacent to the building of the society gone, there society is exposed to trespass.

He said the tree had acted like a shield against intruders. Nobody could climb the wall using a vehicle to enter the society when the tree was there.

Administration of the society has taken up the issue on priority and moved a complaint to the Forest Department of the Delhi Government with a plea to take action in the matter.

People who were found cutting tree did not have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the authorities.
