Gurugram: In a meeting held with Gurugram Mayor Madhu Azad at Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) office in Sector 34 on Friday, MCG councillors reiterated the demand for implementation of 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments and to empower municipal councilors.

The mayor asked for suggestions from the councillors to be presented to CM Manohar Lal Khattar. 

Khattar is expected to conduct a meeting with the mayors and commissioners of all the corporations of the state on January 18.

The councillors demanded that the mayor should raise the issue of giving power to each councilor to carry out development work of rupees one crore as the proposal was already passed in the house meeting and sent to the government was still pending.

All the councillors asked for withdrawal of maintenance of parks and community centers from RWAs.

The councillors pointed out that the corporation should be empowered to pass all types of NOCs and building plans and the councillors should be included in the work done by other departments within the MCG limt.

They have also demanded the transfer of private colonies to the MCG jurisdiction. The councillors suggested for making an exchange policy for departmental lands and reduce the amount of development fee. The proposal of the MCG headquarter building, to be built in Sector 29, should be approved from Chandigarh.

It was also decided in the meeting that the list of officers who do not work or are negligent in work should be prepared and submitted to Urban Local Bodies Minister Anil Vij, so that action can be taken against them.

Among the others issues, repairing and transfer of green belts to MCG from Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), developing community centers in every ward, colonies regularization, financial assistance for setting up compost plant in housing societies, forming a wing to make estimates for civic project, maintenance and taking over of government schools in MCG limit were raised in the meeting.
