In a shocking incident that came to light on Saturday, a 28-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by a resident of Classic Residency, a high-rise in Raj Nagar Extension.
In a complaint she registered with the local police on Saturday evening, the victim said the accused raped her on Friday in a flat of Classic Residency, where she had gone at his invitation.
Giving an account of her ordeal, she said he offered her a drink laced with sedatives. She lost conscience after the drink. When she woke up on Saturday afternoon, she found herself in a state of undress alone in the flat. Immediately she filed a complaint of rape with the Ghaziabad Police at Sihani Gate Police Station.
However, the woman declined to go for medical examination to confirm the rape. Meanwhile, the police have arrested the accused and booked him under section 376 of IPC.
The accused lives with his family in the high-rise. The flat where the incident purported to have taken place belongs to another resident who is out of town.
An RWA official of the society disclosed, on the condition of anonymity, that the owner of the apartment had handed over the keys of his apartment to another resident from whom the accused accessed the keys.
The woman, who lives with her two children in Delhi, lost her husband in July 2019 and is unemployed. She knows the accused for last two years. He used to see her on the pretext of helping her get a teaching job at a government college in Delhi, said the police.
Gajendra Pal Singh, Station House Officer of Suhani Gate Police Station, told Cityspidey that since the woman declined to undergo medical examination, the police would present both the woman and the accused in front of magistrate and record their statements on Monday.
