Noida: Homes 121 residents take protest to builder’s doorsteps

Noida: Residents protest for 3 hours at builder’s office in Sector 63 over irregularities in expenditure of maintenance funds.

Noida: Homes 121 residents take protest to builder’s doorsteps Residents protest outside the Ajnara Group's office on Saturday.

A week after residents of Homes 121, a residential society in Sector 121 in Noida, blocked the Noida-Greater Noida link road near the society, residents took their protest to the builder’s office in Sector 63 on Saturday.

In the three-hour-long protest, which began at 11 am and continued till 2 pm, residents accused the builder of cheating and complained of irregularities in the expenditure of the maintenance fund.

Sanjeev Dixit, a resident, told City Spidey, “The developers buy electricity at a cheap rate and sell it to residents at an inflated price. It is also in violation of power trade laws which prohibit a private party from selling power to consumer at an inflated rate.”

Residents have been paying the builder Rs 2.5 per sqft per month as maintenance charge. But, they said that they have been getting high TDS (total dissolved solids) value water for drinking.

Vidhur Mittal, another resident, said, “After residents observed recently that shoddy maintenance and poor services were being provided to them, they stopped paying maintenance charge to the builders. But, the builders deducted the maintenance charge from the pre-paid electricity meter.”

Homes 121 is a joint project of Ajnara group and Gulshan Homz. It was two hours after the protest that Vineet Gupta, director of Ajnara group, and Deepak Kapoor, director of Gulshan Homz, finally came to meet the residents at the project office of Homes 121. In the two-hour meeting that followed, residents demanded the maintenance charge details be given to them. The developers agreed to meet the residents again before July 20 when the details of expenditure and collection of maintenance charge would be given to the residents.
