Gurugram: The Gurugram municipal body is struggling hard to brighten its prospects for rankings in the ongoing Swachh Survekshan-2020. In this regard, Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh held a meeting with officials on Monday.
The commissioner directed the officials to create a division-wise quick response teams along with necessary guidelines to ensure cleanliness across the city.
While giving directions, the MCG Chief told the officials that better waste management reflects a good image of the city. If the main roads, intersections and public places remain clean with no accumulation of garbage, the image of the city will improve.
He asked the officials to find out the source of garbage lying on roads. He directed the officials to improve the door-to-door garbage collection system. “If garbage is collected from home or establishment in a timely manner, people will not need to throw it on streets and public placess,” he said.
He ordered the officials to fix a time for picking up the garbage and take the onus to keep the city clean.
The MCG officials were asked not to wait for complaints, instead try to resolve the matter by themselves. They were were asked to clean up national highways, state highways and railway lines.
“If we really want to keep the city clean, we all have to take responsibility for it,” he said
The Swachh Survekshan -2020 has been started by the Government of India and teams have reached Gurugram for the survey on Monday. These teams will go in 11 locations and judge based on several parameters and will get feedback about cleanliness from the citizens along with looking at the actual situation. Accordingly, the city will get a cleanliness ranking.
