Gurugram: Returning officer appointed for RWA election at Mahindra Aura

Gurugram: The District Registrar on Tuesday appointed returning officer to conduct the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) election at Mahindra Aura in Sector 110A, Gurugram.

IS Yadav, District Registrar of Firms and Societies said that he has received a request from the administrator to appoint a returning officer to conduct the election.

He said, “Col Roshan Lal Yadav has been appointed as the returning officer and he was directed to conduct the free and fair election as per the bye-laws of the association under the provision of HRRS Act, 2012.”

Also, the District Registrar directed the administrator to include the names of 23 persons, which was missing in the membership list of Aura RWA. He further directed that the voting rights of these members shall be subject to the payment of maintenance dues and other formalities required under the bye-laws of the association and HRRS Act, 2012.

The decision came as big relief for the residents who have been demanding for fresh election in the society for a very long time. Tej Malik, a resident of the society said, “It is a huge relief for hundreds of families living in society as we have been demanding for free and fair election for a very long time.”

According to the residents, in September last year, nine members of the RWA resigned from their post which resulted in dismantling of the RWA. The District Registrar had appointed an administrator four months ago amidst the controversy between the residents and the previous RWA.

In the absence of the governing body, the residents faced tough time as their day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the society were severely hampered.

Ajit Gupta, another resident of the society said, “The entire society was in chaos due of lack of elected body. Also, there were several security lapses causing trouble to the residents. We now hope that the new team would be honest and work for the welfare of the residents.”
