Four-day-old hunger strike called off following assurance from developer

Noida: Residents of Sector 75, a densely populated upscale residential pocket in Noida, called off their hunger strike on the fourth day after receiving assurance in writing from the concerned developer on Tuesday.

The developer told them that their issues would be taken up for resolution on priority.

The residents were agitating against the abysmal state of basic amenities in their residential pockets.

Dusyant Kumar, one of the residents who was on the hunger strike, confirmed that the developer assured them that their issues would be solved soon.

Rajesh Kumar, officer on special duty with Noida Industrial Development Authority, was also present when the residents called off the strike. He received a copy of assurance given by the developer to the residents.

According to the residents, the responsibility of maintaining roads, street lights, park and green belt of Sector 75 lies with the developer unlike other residential sectors where the basic amenities are developed and maintained by agencies.

The residents said that the developer was ignoring their issues despite several rounds of meetings with him.

Navin Mishra, another resident who was also on the hunger strike, said that the developer assured them that he would not make any changes in the original master plan.
