GreNo: AVJ Heights in mess due to erratic maintenance by IRP

Greater Noida: There seems to be no end to the problems of AVJ Heights, a highrise situated in Sector Zeta 1, Greater Noida, as garbage collection was stopped since December 28 due to insolvency resolution process. The garbage is being dumped in the parking area.

An insolvency case was going on at National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) against the absconding builder and the maintenance and security of the society is under IRP. More than 1,200 families live in the society.

But, the recent unhygienic living condition has created an outrage among the residents who worry that their children might get sick because of the piles of garbage lying around.

Talking to CitySpidey, Brajesh Singh, a resident said, “The garbage is being collected from the houses daily but not taken out of the society. It is not only stinking but also inviting diseases.”

The most worrisome element of the entire problem is that the area has turned into a dumping yard and it is just beneath the children’s play area. Parents are reluctant to send their children out to play.

“Parents don't send their children to play. The children have become lazy. They are either watching television or playing electronic games on gadgets,” Mahipal Rajputi, a resident said.

The residents have been paying maintenance of Rs 2 per square feet but have not been receiving even the basic facilities. Two days back, two residents were also assaulted by the security guards who were allegedly drunk.

Nitin Sharma, a resident said, “The society was functioning more smoothly before NCLT took over, there were volunteers who handled everything in the society for nine to ten months. And, today all we face, see and smell is heaps of rotting garbage.”

The situation has worsened after the district was lashed with rains. It has made it unbearable for the residents to even enter the parking area. “We cover our nose from 50 meters away before entering the basement. We are paying the maintenance for what, everything has been taken in advance and even the basic facility like garbage clearance is not being done”, another agitated resident said over a phone call with our reporter.
