Marathon Walk for Unity adds to the Sparkle 2019-20

New Delhi: On a chilly winter Sunday morning. Rasvihar Apartments was abuzz with activity. Some enthusiastic youngster and children were seen preparing themselves for a marathon walk. Styled as Marathon Walk for Unity, the event was part of an ongoing inter-society sports tournament, Sparkle 2019-20. 

Madhu Vihar SHO Rajeev Kumar flagged off the walk and participated as well. The walk concluded with a health checkup camp at Vandana Apartments.

Organised by the Federation of Group Housing Societies (Regd), the month-long inter-society tournament saw participation of more than 18 societies in various sports events like carom, badminton, on-the-spot painting competition and many more. The tournament will culminate on February 9 with prize distribution ceremony. 

Speaking on the occasion, Rasvihar Apartment's president, Ramesh Agarwal, said “We should organise more such activities to keep the society healthy our and fit.

Sparkle 2019-20 is organised after a gap of nine years. 

Briefing about the schedule, organiser of the sports the tournament, Ajay Gupta, said, “more than 200 children and adults participated in the event. It will conclude at Vandana Apartments where a health checkup camp will be organised with the help of Max Hospital.” 

During the marathon, a mobile bike ambulance was kept ready for any medical emergency.  

Councilor of the area Aparna Goel was present at the inauguration of the marathon. Rajeev Kumar, SHO of Madhu Vihar, said he was happy to see the zest in people to participate in a healthy activity and hoped it would lead to a healthy society.
