Noida: Residents' bodies from many residential sectors and highrises including Noida Federation of Apartment Owners Associations (NOFAA), Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA) and District Development Residents Welfare Association (DDRWA) on Sunday got united to strongly oppose a proposal of setting up musical instrument and laser-show at Meghdutam Park in Sector 50, Noida.
Raising their voices against the move by Noida Authority, which had floated e-tender inviting bidders, they said that it would cause ecological losses to the park.
Sanjeev Kumar, General Secretary of RWA, Sector 51, who visits the park regularly said that it would disturb inhabitants' peace when the shows would start taking place in the future. He said, “The habitation of species took almost over a decade to develop naturally. They would get disturbed from sound and lights.”
Office bearers of NOFAA, FONRWA, and DDRWA came out and protested, exhibiting their solidarity to save ecology of the park.
Rajiva Singh, President of NOFAA, Yogendra Sharma, President of FONRWA, NP Singh, President of DDRWA, KK Jain, Secretary General of FONRWA, Rajesh Sahay, Secretary General of NOFAA, Dr D Sharma, President of F Block Federation, Sector 50, were mainly present while protest was in progress.
The protest commenced with the plantation of saplings in the park, re-affirming the commitment of all federations representing Noida citizens to safeguard, sustain and maintain the natural landscape and beauty of the park.
Visitors and morning walkers, and those especially assembled for the cause, were apprised of the extent of ecological damage to the park on account of the proposed laser-show, and how it would eventually destroy the natural landscape, quietude and serenity of the park.
They have also started a petition and signature campaign to garner maximum support for saving the ecology of the park. The copy of the petition was distributed to each participants to understand the harmful consequences of laser-show in this park.
According to residents, they are in touch with concerned officials via social media messengers since past two months. “But, they would now physically visit the office of the authority to register their objection in writing,” Sanjeev Kumar said.
