Gurugram: The millennium city is all set for the 71st Republic Day celebration. Preparations are in the full swing to make the celebration a grand affair.

Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma will be the chief guest in this year's celebration. He will hoist the flag and take the grand parade salute at the Republic Day.

The celebration will be held at Tau Devi Lal Stadium. A series of cultural programmes featuring a catchy rendition of the patriotic songs by schoolchildren are planned for the occasion. 

Children are busy preparing for the event. All the necessary arrangement and the rehearsals are being monitored by a committee constituted for the purpose.

Students from the government schools of Sector-4/7 and Arjun Nagar will showcase the culture of Gujarat through dance. Students of State Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School will present a cultural programme representing the culture of Telangana and Haryana. 

Similarly, Gurunanak School, Vedic Girls, SD Girls School, Madumal School, Jakampura will perform Bhangra dance while DAV School, Sector 49, will give a performance based on the constitution of the country.

A skit will be presented by the students of Salwan School to spread the message to conserve water and reduce air pollution. Rajasthani dance will be performed by the students of RBSM School Bhondsi.

The Gurugram Police, Traffic Police, Gurugram Women Police, NCC Wing, Student Police Cadets, Sentinels of Democracy, Eco Club, Girls Guide and many others will take part in the march past during the celebration.
