Noida: To make it memorable affair, residents of different residential societies in Noida on Saturday started celebrating Republic Day.
Residents of Century Apartment, a residential society in Sector 100, organised several sports events at their place. Many residents especially children and youngsters actively participated in the event.
In another event, District Magistrate BN Singh inaugurated a playground at Sorkha, a local village, for wrestlers.
Ravi Yadav, spokesperson of Yuva Sangharsh Samiti said that this facility will benefit many youngsters aspiring to be a wrestler. He said, "The city has literally turned into concrete forest. There was no such facility for youngsters. But with the inauguration of the facility, they have a dedicated playground for doing practice."
Office bearers of Noida Shaheed Smarak, an organisation at Sector 29, are gearing up to mark 71st Republic Day on Sunday.
On the occasion, Lt Gen GL Bakshi, Chairman of organisation, family of 38 martyrs, heads of Arun Vihar and Jalvayu Vihar, schools, members of executive committee of the organisation, school children and citizens of Gautam Budh Nagar will pay floral tributes to 38 martyrs of Noida on the base of the cenotaph.
