District-level grand ceremony marks Republic Day in Gurugram

Gurugram: A district-level grand celebration at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 38, marked the 71st Republic Day in the millennium city. Haryana Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of a grand parade.

The theme of the Republic Day in the district was 'Plant Health', focusing on nurturing the plants.

A grand parade held on the occasion was led by ACP headquarters Usha Kundu. As many as 18 tableaux were taken out by various departments and institutions during the ceremony. Schoolchildren captivated the onlookers by presenting cultural programmes based on unity in diversity.

The highlight of the day was a message against plastic and polythene. The District Industries Center distributed cloth bags to all the attendees during the ceremony.

Before arriving at the function, Moolchand Sharma paid a tribute to martyrs of the country placing a wreath at the War Memorial located in Civil Lines. He also felicitated the freedom fighters and the kin of the deceased soldier at the ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the Transport Minister highlighted the schemes being implemented by the government and spelt out the its future plans.

He prominently mentioned 'Family Identity Card' launched by his government to provide corruption-free and uninterrupted services to the people of Haryana. In order to ensure transparency in all tehsils and sub-tehsils, e-registration and e-stamp system has been introduced. He said, “Now 526 schemes and services of 38 departments can be obtained online through 115 Antodaya and Saral centers and 6000 Atal Seva centers in the state.”

On the occasion, the minister honoured 34 persons of the district for their exemplary work in various fields with a plant along with an appreciation certificate. 

Four organizations, including REC Foundation, NBCC Ltd., NR-1 PGCIL and RKMF, awarded for the best Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, while four RWAs' including Pinnacle Condominium Association, Vipul Greens, Gurgaon One Apartments and Garden Estate were felicitated for doing adopting good practices in solid waste management.
