Community centre resonates with patriotic songs and slogans

Noida: Sector 19 RWA celebrated the 71st Republic Day at its community centre with a flag-hoisting ceremony.  Prominent economist and an award-winning professor who is a resident of the sector, Dr Lallan Prasad, hoisted the National Flag at 10 am.  

The National Anthem was sung along with patriotic songs and slogans like ‘Jai Hind’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’ were raised on the occasion. 

A meeting was addressed by Dr Prasad, SS Rana, president, Laxmi Narain, general secretary, and Ramkumar Sharma, treasurer of the RWA. Some of the prominent citizens who attended the function were Gajendra Chaudhary, MS Butalia among others. They all conveyed greeted the residents and appreciated the activities of the RWA. 

Sweets were distributed among the residents present at the the celebration and tea and snacks were also served to them. 

A free eye check-up camp was also held at the community centre by Max Hospital on the occasion. Programme Convenor Virender Gupta conducted proceedings.  

Dr Lallan Prasad apprised the gathering with a brief history of the republic and importance of the great democracy of our great country, about fundamental rights as well as duties of the citizens in today's context. 

SS Rana explained in brief the meaning of gantantra (democracy). Laxmi Narain explained the main activities, developmental works got done in the sector and welfare measures taken by the RWA during the last period. He also informed the residents about the Important agenda of the RWA i.e. formation of a club, installation of a lift and an ATM at the community centre. 

Ramkumar Sharma sang a patriotic song and recited a poem on the occasion.
