New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will recommence the process of issuing conveyance deed and registration papers to the residents of unauthorised colonies following a go-ahead from the Election Commission of India.
After providing documents to 20 residents of two unauthorised colonies, Raja Vihar and Suraj Park, under the Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) on January 3, the land-owning agency had stopped the process as the model code of conduct came into effect for the February 8 assembly elections.
The Pradhan Mantri Unauthorised Colonies in Delhi Awas Adhikar Yojana (PM-UDAY) is the Centre’s ambitious plan to give ownership rights to residents of 1,731 unauthorised colonies and benefit four million people.
The DDA has received a clarification from Election Commission of India (ECI) to start the regularisation process for those who registered on the authority's website before January 6, when the election dates were announced. There are about 80,000 people who had registered on the agency's web portal.
Till now 1.97 lakh property owners in Delhi’s 1,731 unauthorised colonies have registered on DDA's website for getting the ownership rights.
More than 4,000 applications with complete documents has been uploaded on the portal, out of which geo-coordinates and site mapping of around 300 properties has been completed
