New Delhi: The residents, who frequently travel to Mumbai by road, have every reason to rejoice as the government has planned a Delhi-Mumbai Expressway which claims to reduce the travel time by almost 50 per cent.

The travel time will be reduced from current 24 hours to just 13 hours. The commuters will be able to save a lot of time during their visits to the maximum city.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the flagship Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be completed in next three years. He said that the work has already started.

The distance between Delhi and Mumbai on the expressway will be 1,320 km. Once it gets ready for the commuters, it will become the India's longest expressway.

Apart from the journey to Mumbai, people travelling to Jaipur, Udaipur and Bhopal will also be benefitted significantly. As per the claims of the government, travel time to Jaipur will reduce by 1.6 hours. On the other hand, one will save 3.3 hours and 6 hours while travelling to Udaipur and Bhopal respectively.

Moreover, there will be 43 interchanges at intersections with major national and state highways to provide connectivity to major towns.

The comforts of commuters have also been kept in mind while planning for the expressway. As per an official, 73 wayside amenities will be there on the stretch. It will have facilities like restaurants, food courts, dormitories, convenience stores, petrol pumps etc.

These amenities will be available for commuters on every 50-km interval. One could be able to access these amenities after every 40-50 minutes of drive.
