Noida: Welfare Association, a community-based residents' association, welcomed the arrival of spring by organising Basant Panchami celebration, at Sector 39 of Noida on Wednesday.
Basant Panchami, also spelt 'Vasant Panchami', is a festival that marks the arrival of spring.
The Sector 39 celebration was marked by traditional gaiety and fervour with people from well-known organisations lining up to pay obeisance and seek the blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Prasad (offering) was distributed among all those who turned up at the venue.
Ravi Kant Mishra, chairman of Janshakti Seva Samiti was the guest for the event which AN Dhavan, chief patron of Seva Samiti, described as well organised.
With Basant Panchami people start preparing for Holi, the festival of colours due next, i.e. 40 days later to be precise.
