Noida: Janshakti Seva Samiti, a group of active citizens, on Thursday wrote to Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer of Noida Industrial Development Authority, demanding a solution to the stray dogs menace.

The residents wrote that they were facing inconvenience due to the stray dogs in their areas.

Members of the committee (Samiti) said that though an agency has been deployed for sterisation of dogs, RWAs of different sectors have denied the agency visiting their sectors for sterilisation.

AN Dhawan, chief patron of the committee, said sterilisation was supposed to be carried out under the supervision of office bearers of residents welfare association. However, when they are contacted to share their experience about the same, they say nothing has been done.

“It means either the agency is not carrying out sterilisation effectively or the residents are not satisfied with the work,” said Dhawan.

Considering all these issues, the residents want the authority to frame an effective policy to control stray dog meace. Dhawan said since Noida is a big city, more than three agencies are required for carrying out the sterilisation effectively.

Currently, there is only agency which carries out the sterilisation in the entire Noida which according to Dhawan may be the reason for its ineffectiveness.
