The ECI also appointed two special observers for the election. They held a meeting with the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, state government and police officials to assess the preparations ahead of the elections.

Chief Election Commissioner talking to The Hindu said, “The poll panel would be ready to handhold whenever required but field level officers should take swift action wherever warranted to ensure fair, just, legal and impartial elections.”

During the meeting, the law and order arrangements in border districts were also discussed.

The CEO, Ranbir Singh said that the preparations have been done for peaceful polling including the border areas of Delhi. The ECI has conducted the review meeting a day after an incident of shooting was reported from the Jamia Nagar area.
