Dwarka Sector 3 back lanes turn dump yards for debris; authorities turn a blind

Dwarka: Debris (construction waste) is being dumped in the backlanes of societies in Sector 3 here. The practice is rampant in the societies from Prodyogiki Apartments to Gauri Ganesh Apartments of sector 3.

There are other societies like Nav Kairali Apartments and Air India Apartments as well where people have no inhibition in disposing of the construction waste in the lanes.

Ex-secretary of Gauri Ganesh Apartments, Jitendra Uppal, said, “It's unfortunate that our backyard is being used as dumping ground. It seems the debris is being dumped here in connivance with the system. If this is not the case, it would have stopped by now. We already have brought it to the notice of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). But no action has been taken against anybody as yet.”

Residents allege that besides the debris, all sorts of discards can be found dumped in the back lanes that create a nuisance everyone. The stench emanating from the garbage and the dust from the debris makes life miserable for people residing in the societies.

They demand that the authorities should monitor the back lanes so that the practice stopped.

Divyank Atwal, a resident, said, “If not stopped immediately, the debris will cause dust pollution in the societies during the upcoming summer. I am witnessing such debris dumping for the last two-three months.”
